Bio - Mo Rocca
Comedy Central, The Daily Show
Mo Rocca, senior political
correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, is best known for his
wacky, tongue-in-cheek news reports. Indecision 2000, The Daily Show's
coverage of the presidential race, garnered both an Emmy and a Peabody Award.
Rocca and the team from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart were named
Rolling Stone's People of the Year 2000.
Mo Rocca began his career in TV as a writer and producer for the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning PBS children's series Wishbone, bringing classic literature to life through the eyes of a Jack Russell terrier. Rocca went on to write and produce for other kids series, including ABC's Pepper Ann and Nickelodeon's The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, a pre-school series combining the whimsy of Seuss characters with the magic of Henson puppetry.
This led unpredictably enough to his position as Consulting Editor at Perfect 10, the adult magazine featuring "the world's most beautiful natural (un-enhanced) women." Doing "pre-school by day and porn by night" helped prepare Mo for the broad range of topics he'd soon tackle on The Daily Show. His other credits include regular slots on NPR's Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, and the Major League Baseball web-radio show, World Domination w/ Larry & Mo, as well as frequent appearances on CNN and FoxNews.
At the podium, Rocca takes his audience behind the scenes of America's most popular news satire program with never-before-seen clips from The Daily Show and delivers his uniquely informed commentary on the current news events and the coverage of them by the "mainstream media." Rocca has profiled eccentrics ranging from a man so obsessed with First Ladies that he dresses up as Florence Harding (wife of Warren) to a husband and wife pet mummification team. He's also interviewed Steve Forbes. A word of advice to Mo Rocca's potential audiences: Don't expect politics as usual!
The former President and writer of Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Show, Rocca is no stranger to the stage. His acting credits include the role of "Doody" in the Southeast Asia Tour of Grease, and the "Professor" in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of South Pacific. Rocca continues to hone his writing skills. He has contributed to GQ, Newsweek.com, Elle, and The Washington Post..
Mo Rocca holds a B.A. from Harvard University and resides in New York City.
