Haber will speak on the topic, “30 Years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall: Are Germany and the U.S. Drifting Apart?” She will also take questions from the audience. This event is a part of the UVA Center for Politics Ambassador Series and UVA Arts Berlin Wall Initiative.

The event will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rotunda Dome Room on the Grounds of the University of Virginia and is free and open to the public, though advance registration is required.

Her Excellency Emily Haber has been Germany’s Ambassador to the U.S. since June 2018. She is a career foreign service officer having served in Moscow, Ankara, and the Balkans. She studied at schools in New Delhi, Bonn, Paris, Brussels, Washington, and Cologne.

This special event is hosted by a partnership between the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics, Center for German Studies, European Studies Program, UVA College of Arts and Sciences Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. The Ambassador Series is coordinated by the UVA Center for Politics’ Global Perspectives on Democracy (GPD) program which fosters dialogue between the United States and other countries through public events and international exchanges.
