Andria P. McClellan - Vice Chair

Councilmember, Norfolk City Council

Andria Padgett McClellan is an elected local official and entrepreneur. Upon graduating from UVA (CLAS’91), Andria began her career in sales and marketing, working for two Fortune 500 companies. After attending Wharton, she led two start-up ventures.

Taking a break from her professional career, Andria dedicated her time to raising her three boys with her husband Mike (CLAS ‘85), while helping others in the community. During that time, she also became a leader in the areas of civics and politics. She now serves on the boards of UVA’s Center for Politics, the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership and the CIVIC Leadership Institute. She has received gubernatorial appointments to serve on the Virginia Small Business Advisory Board, the Family & Children’s Trust Fund, and the Chesapeake Bay Commission’s Local Government Advisory Committee.

Andria has also taken an active role in helping several national, state and local Democratic campaigns, and she was a founding board member of the Democratic Business Alliance of South Hampton Roads. In 2016, she successfully ran for a Superward seat on the Norfolk City Council, defeating a 16-year incumbent in her election. She continues to serve 125,000 constituents as Councilmember, while also serving on the boards of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, Hampton Roads Transit, the Southside Network Authority and the Elizabeth River Trail Foundation. Andria is focused on addressing climate change and mitigating flooding; increasing access to broadband and public transit; supporting and growing small businesses; and, creating a more accessible and transparent government and engaged citizenry.
