Hosted in partnership with World Learning and sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the GPD program is responsible for the organization and implementation of the LEAD Mongolia academic residencies. Five cadres from across Mongolia participate in two-week exchanges taking place between January 2017 and September 2020. All fellows who participate in this program are highly engaged professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 from across Mongolia and work in fields connected to poverty alleviation and unemployment, transparency and anti-corruption, and the environment and urbanization. The fellows’ time with the UVA Center for Politics includes participation in workshops, site visits, and speaker sessions. It is the intention that these activities provide enhanced skills in these fields and ultimately a springboard for the fellows’ current and future professional activities for the benefit of Mongolia. Those who already participated in the fellowship returned to Mongolia highly motivated and have made significant positive impacts on their communities and the nation.
