Retired Managing Director, The Vanguard Group

Mr. Miller is a retired Managing Director of The Vanguard Group. He presently serves on the boards of NACCO Industries, a publicly-traded holding company for a portfolio of mining and natural resources businesses; Hamilton Beach Brands Holding Company, a publicly-traded holding company for a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of small kitchen appliances; Vanguard Charitable, one of the country’s largest donor-advised funds; and several academic and civic institutions. Mr. Miller’s experience includes serving in senior management of a major financial services and investment management company and as a partner of a major law firm, providing the Board with financial, legal, risk management and strategic planning expertise. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia, earning his B.A. in 1974 and his J.D. from the University’s School of Law in 1977. Mr. Miller currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife, Nancy Richards Miller.
