(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA) – On Wednesday, Oct. 28, the University of Virginia Center for Politics will host a virtual Ambassador Series event with Her Excellency Rosemary Banks, Ambassador of New Zealand to the United States.

Banks will speak about the relationship between New Zealand and the United States, the country’s successful response to COVID-19, and other topics. She will also take questions from the audience. UVA Center for Politics Director of Global Initiatives Daman Irby will moderate the event.

This virtual event will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28. Those who would like to attend may register via this link or visit Eventbrite.com and search “Ambassador Rosemary Banks.” Members of the media are welcome to attend.

Her Excellency Rosemary Banks has served for 40 years in the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade including assignments as the Permanent Representative to the U.N. in New York, Ambassador to France and Portugal, Permanent Representative to the OECD, and Deputy Chief of Mission to Australia and the Solomon Islands.

This special event is coordinated by the UVA Center for Politics’ Global Perspectives on Democracy (GPD) program, which fosters dialogue between the United States and other countries through public events and international exchanges. It is in partnership with the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs and in association with UVA Global Week, which is Oct. 24-31, 2020.
