(CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA) – On Sunday, March 17, the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia kicks off the Youth Ambassadors Program with Argentina and Chile, which features 12 high-achieving youth leaders and two educators.
The exchange is operated by the Center’s Global Perspectives on Democracy Program in partnership with World Learning and sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. After arriving, the group will participate in a series of educational events and activities focusing on leadership development and civic engagement. Participants will lodge with area host families. Members of the media interested in the Youth Ambassadors exchange are welcome to attend any of the following events:
— Monday, March 18: Leadership & Team Building at UVA’s Poplar Ridge High Ropes Challenge Course from 12:45 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
— Tuesday, March 19: The Arts & Civic Engagement with Rapper & Clothing Designer Shad Gill from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at UVA’s Jefferson Hall (Hotel C)
— Wednesday, March 20: Service project at Habitat for Humanity Store from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
— Friday, March 22: Visit to Carter Mountain Orchard from 10 a.m. until noon.
— Monday, March 25: Grassroots Organizing with Brothers United to Cease the Killing (B.U.C.K) from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at UVA’s Jefferson Hall (Hotel C).
— Monday, March 25: Visit to Monticello High School from noon until 2:30 p.m.
— Monday, March 25: Lecture on Youth Engagement and American Politics by Center for Politics Director Larry J. Sabato at 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Center for Politics (465 Crestwood Drive).
— Tuesday, March 26: My Country, My Culture performance from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of E. Main St. and 3rd St. on the Downtown Mall.

This will be the 38th exchange group to come to UVA as a part of the Center for Politics’ GPD program.
